Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is also known as Facial Rejuvenation. It is a safe, gentle and natural anti-aging practice to enhance beauty, mood and wellbeing.

Our skin, our largest organ, is often the first organ in our body to respond and show signs of deterioration and premature aging. With our stressful lives, poor sleep, nutritional deficiencies and/or chemicals in our food and environment it’s no wonder.

When it comes to our health, and in particular our body image, we’re looking for a magic pill or a quick fix like Botox or fillers. But sometimes we don’t know what it’s doing to our bodies in the long run. And the good news is, if you’ve had Botox or fillers, cosmetic acupuncture will allow for longer lasting results.

Let’s look at three reasons why we should consider adding it to our self-care regime.

  1. Helps to produce collagen and elastin

When the face is needled, it promotes blood circulation and carries nutrients to the facial cells. The insertion of these needles will cause what we call a “micro trauma” to the face (ie: your body will see the needles as a foreign object causing “trauma” to the face). The stimulation of fibroblasts (a fibroblast is a type of cell that synthesizes the extracellular matrix and collagen. Fibroblasts play a critical role in tissue repair) can help produce collagen and elastin – the building blocks of skin.

  • Constitutional treatment

Chinese medicine uses a constitutional treatment, which means it will also address your health and the whole body, bringing your body back to balance. Both the symptoms and the root of the problem can be addressed and balance restored. It is a safe, gentle and natural anti-aging practice to enhance beauty, mood and wellbeing.

  • Relaxing

You can have a relax and a little nap. Despite what you might thing, the needles don’t hurt (too much). We use high quality, medical grade surgical steel Japanese needles that are unique in shape and pushes skin molecules aside. The tip is rounded and is coated in silicone to reduce pain of insertion. The shaft is polished which allows for smooth insertion which is important for delicate facial skin. The facial needles remain in the face for around 15 minutes, while the body points stay in longer.

Unfortunately cosmetic acupuncture is not for everyone including pregnant women. Get in touch with us to see if it is right for you or book here.
